Developed by Microsoft, the Windows Presentation Foundation (or WPF) is a graphical subsystem for rendering user interfaces. Windows-based applications, Silverlight Web applications and Microsoft Phone 7 applications are based on WPF.

The following example demonstrates the use of templates in Expression Blend and shows how to implement a specific template selector.
A template selector is used when you want to display elements differently according to their:
- Instance type
- values of properties
- or anything else you can dream off
